Today Hannah is one month old. (The time stamp on the blog is weird. This should be dated 8/6). We took her to the university's health center, where you can weigh any time for free, and had an "official" measurement. She's now 8 lbs 15 oz. That means she has gained 2 lbs 12 oz in her first month. She has also finally passed her cousin Asher's birth weight (8 lbs 10 oz). (Robyn, considering that Asher was your smallest, I really don't know how you do it!)
Hannah likes to play with the turtle toy on her baby bouncer.
She likes to suck on her fingers, arms, and pretty much anything else she can get in her mouth. Hannah likes baths with Daddy.
Hannah loves her blessing dress. My grandmother made it for me, and now she gets to wear it. After 28 years, it looked good as new after my mother washed it and put on a new bow. Hannah looks a lot like I did in that dress. I hope she gets her father's curly hair along with his long eyelashes. Her father is really proud that she looks so much like me. "Now I have the two prettiest girls in the world to love!" he says.
I enjoyed having so much family around us for the day. That was one of the big reasons we wanted to move back to Utah for the year. My entire family was there, including my mother's parents. We were only missing one missionary and one in-law son who was traveling back from a research project. Ryan's parents were able to come as well. It has been so fun for them to have a grandchild close. Ryan's other family are all out of state.
Here is the four generation photo shot of the dress. Hannah with her maternal great-grandmother, maternal grandmother, and me.
My mother constantly says, "Why is it that people are fascinated by sleeping babies? Why doesn't anyone ever look at me and say 'Aww! That's so cute! Mama is sleeping. Shh! Don't wake her."
It's true that we love to ogle sleeping babies, as evidenced by the absurd number of pictures we have taken of Hannah sleeping. Here are a few. This last one perfectly shows both how tiny she was in the hospital and one of her favorite ways to sleep with Daddy (we call it "tummy time").
I'm the husband and chief "Manny" in the Smith household. Graduate of International Relations and Japanese and MBA hopeful. I love games of all sorts.

I am an opera singer and a wife and mother. Life is busy but happy. Someday we'll have that house with a white picket fence, but for now we're just happy to be together.

Sugar and spice and everything nice. I love kitties and watching ceiling fans.
